Message from the Chair

Since my election as Steuben County Legislature Chair in January, I’ve spent time getting to know our county operations and benefits, as well as relying on my experience on the Board for the past 8 years.

County government is tasked with providing services for residents. Many of these services are outlined and mandated by the laws of New York State. We are grateful to have the ability to provide these services for all residents. We have hard working staff that make this happen every day.

We have the best of all worlds, which includes city living, vast farm operations, quaint villages, and simple country living. There are many career/work options. One of my first jobs was a tour guide at a local winery. It was the perfect way to meet many of the tourists that visit our area and help our economy.

We have a solid foundation for education. It includes a sound public school system along with opportunities for higher education. I am a graduate of Corning Community College and my education there has led to many of the successes in my life.

Our infrastructure is great, and it is always being improved. We have an excellent system of roads. We also take advantage of opportunities to expand our infrastructure, such as access to high-speed internet, to make our communities a better place to live.

As a resident for the past 40 years, it has provided me with an excellent place to get my college education, find a great career and raise a family.

This is our opportunity to shine. We want people to visit and we want people to stay.
